Team behind award-winning music venues launches new late night music pub in Islington
The team behind award-winning live music venues The Garagae and Oslo in London and Thekla in Bristol has launched an intimate new late night music pub in Islington.
The Grace, located directly opposite Highbury and Islington tube station, is set to continue in the tradition of London’s landmark live music pubs, being one of the only late night bars offering live music in the area.
George Akins, DHP Family owner, said: “London is well known for its live music pubs which are institutions in their own right.
“Here at The Grace, we had the perfect opportunity to combine our bar and live music space to create an atmospheric space that can function equally well for after work drinks or post gig partying.”
The venue, spread across two floors, has a 150-capacity live music space to welcome upcoming and emerging artists, gigs, and late nights parties and a downstairs pub area offering comedy, quizzes and talks. Friday nights, open until 4am, will host DJs from Sister Ray Records, Soho’s famous record store.
The space, which originally opened as Upstairs At The Garage, already boasts an impressive array of artists who have played there such as The Killers, Grimes, Shreyl Crow, Mogwai and Jeff Buckley.
